Read the Bible: Psalm 74

God my King is from ancient times,
performing saving acts on the earth.
13 You divided the sea with your strength;
you smashed the heads of the sea monsters in the water;
14 you crushed the heads of Leviathan;
you fed him to the creatures of the desert.
15 You opened up springs and streams;
you dried up ever-flowing rivers.
16 The day is yours, also the night;
you established the moon and the sun.
17 You set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made summer and winter.

18 Remember this: the enemy has mocked the LORD,
and a foolish people has insulted your name.
19 Do not give to beasts the life of your dove;
do not forget the lives of your poor people forever.
20 Consider the covenant,
for the dark places of the land are full of violence.
21 Do not let the oppressed turn away in shame;
let the poor and needy praise your name.
22 Rise up, God, champion your cause!
Remember the insults
that fools bring against you all day long.
23 Do not forget the clamor of your adversaries,
the tumult of your opponents that goes up constantly.

Read the Bible: Psalm 73

21 When I became embittered
and my innermost being was wounded,
22 I was stupid and didn’t understand;
I was an unthinking animal toward you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me up in glory.
25 Who do I have in heaven but you?
And I desire nothing on earth but you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart,
my portion forever.
27 Those far from you will certainly perish;
you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.
28 But as for me, God’s presence is my good.
I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,
so I can tell about all you do.

Sunday School is for All Ages!

On the cusp of the tenth and final plague on Egypt, Pharaoh still will not relent.

His country lies in waste. The crops are completely wiped out. The livestock are decimated. Everywhere there has been suffering and destruction. Pharaoh still will not relent.

One last time, Moses warns Pharaoh of what is to come. After the tenth plague, the people of Egypt will not merely allow Israel to leave; they will expel them from the land—forcefully push them out. The officials of Egypt will bow before Moses and a new nation will be delivered.

The apostle Paul writes of a day yet to come when the truer and better Moses, Jesus Christ, will receive the honor due His name:

…God highly exalted Him
and gave Him the name
that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow—
in heaven and on earth
and under the earth—
and every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father

(Philippians 2:10-11).

A day is yet ahead when the redeemed of the Lord will be expelled from this land; caught up and delivered from the presence of sin to forever be with our Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18).

Sunday School for all ages begins weekly at 9:45 AM. All are warmly welcome.

REMEMBER: Honor a Father Figure

The fifth of the Ten Commandments instructs Christ followers to give honor to those who have served as mother or father figures. There are countless ways to follow this commandment and ahead of Father’s Day (June 16), we’d like to offer one more.

Use the button below to read more and to submit information for a father figure you would like to give honor.

Ascension Day

Compared to Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Ascension Day gets little notice—if any at—all in churches that do not follow a liturgical calendar. Yet, the ascension of Jesus Christ, His return to the glories of heaven to be seated at the right hand of the Father, is an essential and hopeful part of His redemptive work.

Matthew Burden’s 2022 article Why Christ’s Ascension is Essential is a helpful resource for understanding the significance of Jesus’ return to heaven. Through this link, the article has been unlocked for you, without a subscription.
